What I Do

My approach to psychotherapy is collaborative and flexible. While my primary orientation is psychodynamic, or insight-oriented, I am also comfortable working in a more structured way to address immediate and specific goals. I work with adolescents and adults of all ages, and primarily utilize individual psychotherapy and couples counseling. I have significant experience working with clients who exhibit serious mood disorders (such as depression and bipolar spectrum disorders), anxiety disorders, and trauma issues. In addition, I work with people going through such issues as divorce, grief and loss (including pet loss), retirement adjustment, relationship difficulties, and chronic pain. Finally, I offer disability evaluations for mental health conditions.

I pride myself on being real and down to earth so you can trust I am not judging, shaming, or trying to control you in any way. My hope for you is that you can feel better and overcome the concerns you have - within yourself, your relationships, on the job, or with friends and family. I can help you find the path to building stronger, healthier relationships, work through past hurts and traumas, grow to love and accept yourself, improve your self-confidence, and care for yourself in ways you never imagined. Changing our lives and situations is a process; however, within the therapeutic relationship it can be comforting and liberating at the same time.

Individual Therapy

Individual counseling is a powerful experience of self-discovery which can lead you to many of the answers to your problems and hang-ups in life. The relationship between you and your therapist is unique and personal, and it is important that you feel safe and accepted with that person.

Couples Counseling

Our relationship with our partner is one of the closest relationships we will have in life. No wonder it hurts so much when it is threatened with conflict. With couples counseling, commitment, and hard work, you and your partner can rebuild a trusting and loving relationship.

Adolescent/Teen Therapy

Teenagers are trying to figure out who they are and where they belong among their peers and in society. It is a time riddled with insecurity and doubt. Therapy can help teens process their emotional experiences, learn to cope with difficult feelings, and solve problems more effectively.
